Phexin (Generic Ceporex) is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the respiratory tract such as middle ear, bones, pneumonia, reproductive, skin and urinary systems. Phexin (Generic Ceporex) is only effective against certain types of bacteria. It is ineffective against viral infections such as colds and influenza.
How to use
The correct dosage of Phexin (Generic Ceporex) will depend on the condition you are being treated for. Use Phexin (Generic Ceporex) as directed by your doctor. Do not more or less than prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Phexin (Generic Ceporex) unless you have consulted your doctor first.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Phexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It's prescribed for bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, the middle ear, the bones, the skin, and the reproductive and urinary systems. Because it's effective for only certain types of bacterial infections, before beginning treatment your doctor may perform tests to identify the organisms causing the infection.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Phexin, skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Storage
Store Phexin at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), in a tightly closed container. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Phexin out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Phexin (Generic Ceporex),
Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Phexin (Generic Ceporex) or any other cephalosporin antibiotic such as cefadroxil or cephradine, penicillin, or any other drugs.
Tell your doctor what medications you are taking, especially other antibiotics, anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin), probenecid, and vitamins.
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver or kidney disease, stomach problems, or colitis.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Phexin (Generic Ceporex), call your doctor.
Possible Side Effects
The side effects may include:
upset stomach;
diarrhea;
vomiting.
If you experience any of the following side effects, you should turn to your doctor immediately:
a skin rash;
itching;
hives;
breathing difficulties;
wheezing;
unusual bleeding or bruising;
sore throat;
vaginal infection.

If you suspect an overdose, seek emergency medical treatment immediately. Symptoms of Phexin overdose may include: Blood in the urine, diarrhea, nausea, upper abdominal pain, vomiting.
